Tier Two - Complete

Where Are We Now?

After nearly four years of working comprehensively with stakeholders in Will County, Illinois and Lake County, Indiana, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will publish the Illiana Corridor Tier Two Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), which recommends a new 50-mile toll road that will connect I-55 near Wilmington, Illinois with I-65 near Lowell, Indiana.

The Draft EIS was released on January 24, 2014 and solicited approximately 1,240 unique comments that have been responded to in the Final EIS. The Final EIS was released on September 26, 2014, and after a 30 day review period, FHWA will consider any additional comments received, and then prepare a document called the Record of Decision, which summarizes the final project decision.
